Eliecer Guzman (“Perla”)

Perla is from Ibague, Colombia and was involved with horses from very early in his life with his father who was one of the best horsemen in the region of Tolima. After finishing his studies, Perla went on to work with the Paso Fino farm Inversiones Bochica not training but learning how to manage and take care of the horse. He owes much to the teachers Adolfo Gomez and Ney Uribe. During that time he continued to learn the equine feeding program, horse management and working as a groom. After this solid knowledge base, Perla devoted himself to train the Paso Fino horse. His record in Colombia is impeccable in different modalities such as Paso Fino, Trote y Galope and Trocha.

He arrived in the United States of America in 2000 with a five-year contract and subsequently worked at different farms around Miami. Perla came to Besilu at the beginning of 2013 and in such a short period he has already made great triumphs for the farm with horses such as Maraquita de Besilu and Vivaldi de Besilu. Perla said: “I appreciate the opportunity that Mr. Benjamin Leon Jr. has given to me so I can demonstrate my skills as a trainer; it is a great pleasure to be in this team and work with such talented horses.”
