Originally from upstate New York, Carla and her husband relocated to Ocala, Florida in the mid 1990’s, to be closer to her husband’s parents since both of her parents had recently passed away. She felt the lifestyle of the area was very appealing and definitely considers Ocala home.

Before leaving New York, Carla worked in Human Resources for NCR Corporation and after moving to Reddick she and her husband owned and operated a local tack and feed store in Lowell. She also has spent time working for the Ocala Breeders’ Sales Company. Employed by Besilu in June of 2012, Carla is the farm’s office manager. “I love working for the farm and the diversity of my job,” says Carla, “I’m always doing something different, and learning something new.”

Outside the office Carla is very devoted to her animals, along with two dogs, two cats, and a donkey, there are nine horses – six Paso Finos, two Quarter horses, and a registered Paint.  Among her horses is a 35 year-old Quarter Horse mare that she says, “taught me how to ride.” Involved with Paso Finos since 1999, first in the show arena and now she enjoys them for trail riding, especially with her favorite Paso, Guapa Victorial.

Carla follows Thoroughbred racing for her job at Besilu Stables and for her own personal pleasure. Her favorite race horse was the Champion mare Zenyatta. Although she says she has transferred her affections to the Thoroughbreds at the farm, namely Royal Delta – the two time Eclipse Award Champion.
